Learn Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) as your backbone and add Gulf dialect as your speaking layer. MSA gives you reading, documents, signage, news and formal writing. Gulf dialect gives you the corridor conversation, the taxi ride and the patient at the bedside.
What actually differs
Roughly 70–80% of the core vocabulary overlaps. The differences cluster in high-frequency function words: what, want, now, there is, negation. Learning 40 dialect swaps transforms how natural you sound.
